Welcome back everyone! Here in the Turfcare Department we are excited and pleased to report that the golf course has wintered quite well. With the exception of a number of spots that have been damaged by voles the course should be very playable. The greens came out of winter in great shape but this cold weather with no snow cover will set back the Poa a little bit. It was quite happy under a foot of snow but now needs to acclimatize a little bit to this cold. The tees and fairways also came out well and as soon as the weather improves we will see some improvement in all areas.
Please understand that with the course opening so early we will need to slowly bring the course up to the conditions that you are used to. This means that the greens will probably be a little bumpy and slow until temperatures improve. There is little to no growth and we don’t want to stress the turf out sending us backwards instead of forward. Please bare with us and keep in mind that as soon as possible we will be improving on the ball roll etc.
At this time of the season it is even more important that we REPLACE DIVOTS, FIX BALLMARKS AND OBEY CART TRAFFIC SIGNS.
Thanks and we look forward to another great season!
