Happy Thanksgiving!

These past seven months have not been at all “normal.”  I am not sure when or if “normal” will return, but even with all the turmoil created by the pandemic, we still have much for which to be thankful.  I hope that we can all take time this weekend to reflect on the genuinely fortunate circumstances in which we live and how relatively unscathed the Red Deer area has been from COVID-19.  Although individual circumstances vary, as a group, we are fortunate to live where we do, have the associations we have, can recreate with those we want to in lovely surroundings, and so much more. Again, Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to thank all of you for making this first season at RDGCC such a pleasant one for Diane and me. We have thoroughly enjoyed being at the Club and living in Red Deer and look forward to many years more enjoying your company.

Member Town Hall Meetings

The Board will be presenting the recently completed Strategic Plan for RDGCC on Tuesday, October 20.  Due to COVID regulations, we have to limit the size of the meeting to 50.  As a result, there will be three sessions on the 20th, beginning at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and finally at 8 p.m.  Contact me at mike@rdgcc.ca to confirm which session you want to attend.  You can read the Strategic Plan at your leisure by logging into the website and looking under the “Strategic Plan 2020” tab.

Club Committee’s

Any member wishing to get more involved at the Club now has an excellent opportunity to do just that.  To improve transparency and increase connection to the various Club demographics, the Board is opening up its committees to member involvement.  The Board is accepting members at large to sit on the various committees currently or in the future constituted at the Club.  These committees include Finance, Green, Membership, and F & B.  The Board is seeking 3-5 members per committee with the committee members being confirmed after the AGM in January.  Please contact me at mike@rdgcc.ca to verify in which committee you would be interested in serving.

Power Cart Traffic

Although we are in the final few days of the season, the turf is growing less and cannot deal with power cart traffic as it can in mid-summer.  Please keep your power cart fully on the cart paths wherever possible, especially around the greens and tee boxes.  Your cooperation is much appreciated.

Golf Simulators – HAWK’S ALLEY

Work is well underway in the development of Hawk’s Alley.  Heath, Jon and the Turfcare team were able to clean out the building, which was no small task so that the construction crew can begin framing out the building starting early next week.  I will update you on the progress of this project regularly over the coming weeks.
