October 2, 2020

I believe it was the last Thursday of April this year when the government announced that the golf season would be allowed to take place.  Before that announcement, we were all very concerned about the Club, our jobs, and life, just like everyone else.  Since that announcement, and from the day that we opened on May 6 until now, there have been nearly 33,000 rounds of golf played.  From the records I have been able to find, this is the most rounds ever played at the Club.  In addition to the rounds of golf played, the member support of the golf shop and F & B has translated into us having a positive year financially.  A sincere thank you to all of you for supporting the Club throughout this pandemic and helping it to flourish.

Fall Start Times

Due to the possibility of frost delays, the daily start time will be gradually moving back over the next three weeks as per the schedule below:

Day Start Time
Monday, October 5 to end of season 11 a.m.

We understand that with the beautiful fall weather, the demand for tee times is exceptionally high.  Some of you are not getting the times you would like, and we are sorry that we cannot accommodate you in the way we’d like to.  A very few have turned to taking out your frustrations on our professional staff trying to assist you.  Abuse of staff is unacceptable and must stop.  The treatment they have received from these few members has been shocking and utterly discouraging to those handling the phones.  Please be kind to our staff as they’re doing the best they can under the present circumstances.

Ladies Fall Banquet

The Ladies Fall Banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7.  Please call the office at 403-347-5441 to book your space!

Power Cart Traffic

As autumn is now fully here, the turf is growing less and cannot deal with power cart traffic as it can in mid-summer. Please keep your power cart fully on the cart paths, especially around the greens and tee boxes. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

Power Cart Care

We ask that you take care when towing pushcarts behind the new power carts. If you are not very careful, a lot of damage to the rear wheel cover can occur. As you can see in the picture below, it is already a significant issue. These carts are a month old, and it is disheartening to see them already in such a state. Thank you for your attention in dealing with this issue.

Golf Simulators – HAWK’s ALLEY

In the member survey done earlier this year, it was made very clear to the Board that there was a strong desire to add year round amenities like golf simulators to the Club.  I am excited to announce that we have started renovating the old Turfcare building directly south of the clubhouse into the new home to four golf simulators, a practice putting area and a lounge. Hawk’s Alley is the name for this new member amenity.  We hope to have it fully operational by mid-November.  You can follow the progress on Instagram at @hawksalley as well as on the Club’s Facebook page. More details to follow.
