A reminder that the Clubhouse will continue with Sunday dinners this off-season. Each week we will need a minimum of 20 reservations by 2 pm Friday to continue with that week’s service. This Sunday’s menu is included at the end of this message.
Ken, Jordan and Mark are in the golf shop daily, and have just returned from the PGA of Alberta buying show. Stop in any time to discuss new product available in 2018, or to purchase or order Christmas gifts for the golfers on your list. Ken Frame Golf Sales is also a great source for corporate gifting needs.
Today is the final day for Red Deer Golf and Country Club members to order their Troon Golf discount cards. Call Pam in the office to sign up.
Red Deer Golf and Country Club members who travel to the Palm Desert area are also able to book times at the S at Rancho Mirage, formerly Desert Island. The S is a fun play, and always in good condition. RDGCC members can play at a rate of $100 with times booked two days in advance on a space available basis. The S has plans for a boutique style hotel and golf course renos in the years ahead. We wish them luck with their plans and look forward to following their progress.
At this time of year we get busy with budgeting and planning for the 2018 golf year. Restaurants, hotels, golf clubs, ski hills, etc are all impacted by our minimum wage increases. In 2013 the hourly rate was $9.20 and is currently $13.60….an increase of 47% with another bump next October. Challenging times… It would be great for businesses like ours if there was a sliding scale for students living at home or an age break for younger people but at this point at least all employees are treated the same and impact us all at the entry level.
The golf course took another hit during the recent windstorm. We had a few trees fall over, and several more evergreens break part way up. Again no real damage to the golf course (a fence repair), but still painful to lose or top mature trees.
