Alberta Golf recently held a course rating seminar at Canyon Meadows in Calgary. Red Deer Golf and Country Club members Merv Dusyk and Laurel Goodacre were 2 of 40 who participated. Hat’s off to Merv and Laurel for their commitment to the game, and here’s hoping they carry on throughout the process. Alberta Golf needs people like them helping out…we will all benefit as a result of their efforts and expertise.
Speaking of Alberta Golf did you know that all Red Deer Golf and Country Club members belong to it and Golf Canada! Stewards of the game, the volunteers and staff of Alberta Golf run rules clinics, and administer handicaps. Other member benefits include up to $2,500 reimbursement for damaged, lost or stolen equipment, up to $2,500 reimbursement towards travel related equipment protection, availability of personalized equipment ID labels, broken window protection (up to $1,000), golf cart accident coverage up to $2,500, as well as access to the rules of golf. Golf Canada is changing for the better and Alberta Golf is leading the way.
The Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship is fast approaching. Volunteer forms are available at the Administration Office and online at Golf Canada. We will have 156 participants from all over the world. Sponsorship opportunities are available and we will utilize a volunteer pool of 100. There will be more information sent out next week…but prior to that BIG thanks to Phil and Brenda Pattison, Barclay and Renee White, Ken and Kate Evanecz, Dale and Majella Russell, Greg and Eileen Atkinson, Rich and Linda Roberts, and Mike Phelps for accepting larger roles. It is an event that the Red Deer Golf and Country Club is very well suited for.
