March 30, 2016

The driving range will open this Friday at 10 am, and be open daily from 10 am – 7 pm.  We expect the range to be busy and thank you in advance for limiting your practice time if others are waiting.  Junior restrictions may apply when the range is full.  The practice green and our 8a short game facility will open when they are ready.
We expect the course to open in a week or two…and in exceptional condition.  Red Deer Golf and Country Club members will see the benefits of allowing our grounds crew the proper time and budget to follow best practices especially in prepping the golf course for winter.  There is no magic formula that guarantees good turf but Heath Koch, Chris Miller, Rod Clark and Brigitt Smith deserve a pat on the back for their efforts this off-season.
Brigitt visited us at the RDGCC yesterday and is still waiting for that baby to arrive!  Best wishes Brigitt!
Our Opening Reception and New Member Orientation will be held Friday April 22 from 5 – 9 pm.  Golfers will hear from our Club President, Ladies President and Managers.  Come learn of our plans and events for the 2016 season.  Food and beverage are complimentary!  It is a wonderful evening we hope you all attend.
Our new and improved and mildly renovated Snack Shack will be open from 12 – 6 pm.  Those of you hitting balls will be able to stop in for a beverage or quick bite.
We will be open for lunch starting this Monday from 11:30 – 1:30.  We will offer 4 or 5 selections off our new menu each day with all items priced at $10.00.  We will use the week to train servers and kitchen staff and our members will benefit with good food and the City’s best setting.
We have switched to a new software system and have a change for spousal charge accounts.  Spousal charge accounts can be tracked separately if the spouse adds an “A” each time a transaction is made.  Provided we get that notification the charges will be separated on your monthly bill.
All men interested in playing in the Walter Sandquist Senior League Tuesday mornings should sign up in the golf shop A.S.A.P.  Singles will be paired up when possible, and a spare list created.  Thanks to Harry Lepargneaux for all his work all season long organizing and herding the Senior Men.
We will open this week for Sunday Prime Rib. The menu will be available later today.  Reservations are required and can be made until Friday at 4 pm by calling the office at 403-347-5441.
Brian and Jean Wimmer were in Pete Carlson’s Golf in Palm Desert last week with their grandson Morgan McCullough who found a Red Deer Golf and Country Club logo’d hat for sale!  Our brand travels!!
Congratulations to longtime RDGCC member and Past President Ken Taylor on recording his 10th hole-in-one while wintering in the Palm Springs area.  Ken was celebrating his 83rd birthday with the boys and knocked it in on a 183 yard par 3.  Looking at Ken I doubt he used more than a 6 or 7 iron!!
Golf truly is the game of a lifetime!
