A warm welcome to our newest shareholder Brian Adcock. Brian is the owner/operator of Fountain Tire (67a Street) in Red Deer. He has played here as a guest and chose to make it a long term committment. He likes the convenient location, our food and beverage, and the people he golfs with. Brian is married to Colleen and they have three sons and a daughter. With any luck one or two of them may join him as members this year as well. Thanks again Brian and Colleen…and welcome to Red Deer’s finest golf facility!
The Red Deer Golf and Country Club Board of Directors and membership provide our employees a wonderful environment to work in. Attracting and holding onto good people is one of the biggest challenges in a seasonal business. If you are continually training new staff each spring it not only impacts labour costs, but often because of time spent training member expectations are not met in other areas.
I am proud to report that we have 21 returning staff on our grounds crew this year. Some like Bruce McLuhan (40+ years), Earl Bowie, George Twidale and Tamara Lavoie (all 8+ years), you may not know of, but they love this place and make it better every day. Head Superintendent Heath Koch is entering his 9th season with us.
Our Executive Chef Ryan Poole and Food Services Managers Robyn Amell and Debbie Slagman are entering their 5th year.
Pam Vincent in Administration has 11 years in her second twirl at the Club after 6 years in the 90’s and our Office Manager Deb Marshall 9 full years.
Head Professional Dean Manz is entering his 3rd season and has roughly a 75% return rate on back shop staff this year. Really a good number with the younger generation.
Our strength is our people. Based on numbers like those we have high expectations for the 2020 season.
Our members and their guests can look forward to all department’s best efforts on getting things done “the Red Deer Golf and Country Club way” each and every day.
