On Monday March 16 Mike Kenney will assume his new role as General Manager of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Mike and Diane (an avid golfer) arrived a couple weeks ago and he has been at the Club periodically, attended a NGCOA function with us, took the first aid training, and sat in on our manager’s meetings.
I think the Board made a terrific choice and wish him all the best. Mike walks into a position with experienced managers in every department, an active and supportive Board, and Canada’s best membership. With the Alberta economy and uncertainty with COVID-19 we will need his experience, and the expertise of our management team!
Our early payment date is Monday March 16 and this year, perhaps more than ever, we ask for your continued support.
And speaking of support, thank you all for 14+ enjoyable years as your GM. Thanks to the nearly 100 seasonal staff (many of whom return year after year) for their enthusiastic efforts. Very special thanks to our managers and year round staff for their friendship and commitment to the RDGCC. Our people love this place and continually go the extra mile.
All of us, members, managers, and staff should be very proud of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. In 2019 with thanks to an engaged membership we staged a hugely successful National Championship. Our golf course is terrific and every year people rave about it’s condition. Your golf shop was recognized as one of our province’s best. Sales have doubled and our Professionals fill every need. Our Food and Beverage team offers consistently good food and service. Outside bookings continue to grow and last year we operated at a profit which is rare in a seasonal private Club operation. Our accounting and admin is cheerfully and efficiently handled by two people! Walk into any other similar sized private golf Club’s office and count heads.
I look forward to the positive change Mike Kenney will bring. Let’s hope for normal weather (whatever that is) and a normal economy (whatever that is), as we continue to play and bring family and friends to the beautiful Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Good health to all!
