June 26, 2020

Our first four months of living in the Red Deer area have been great, but a blur.  From moving into and trying to get a home organized, start a new job with all the new policies, procedures and most importantly, the members to get to know, to COVID-19 and the adjustments we have all had to make in our lives, it has been a little crazy.  What has made it manageable has been the wonderful people we have met and work with that have welcomed us so warmly and made us feel at home, which we do feel.  We sincerely appreciate how kind and patient everyone has been as we have tried to find our way in dealing with life at RDGCC and the bigger world in these troubling times.  Most importantly, to me, has been the steadfast hope exhibited by so many that life and the Club will be okay, but more than that, that we will thrive.  I sincerely believe this to be the case.

The commitment your Board of Governors has made to look deeply into what we are currently doing and how we can do it better is a significant and necessary first step.  The survey that you will receive in the upcoming days will give us all the information we need to not only make the required adjustments to meet your current needs but also what changes are required so that the Club can be successful for the next 100 years.  The survey will take about 15-20 minutes to complete.  You can start and then leave it for a time and then come back to it.  Take your time and add all the comments and suggestions you have always wanted to say but haven’t as the survey is anonymous.  The deadline for completion is July 17.  We sincerely hope that all of you will participate as it is your Club and we want to make it as good as it possibly can be.

Canada Day

Canada Day is just a few days away.  Due to the demand for tee access and physical distancing requirements, we have decided to forego the usual Canada Day activities and treat the day as we would any holiday with tee times starting at 7 a.m., and with the usual weekend restrictions in place.  There will be no group bookings or men’s night on Canada Day this year.

We are very excited to be having a Canada Day BBQ for our members.  It will take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in front of the Snack Shack, and will include your choice of hamburger or hot dog, chips and a pop.  We hope you will include the Club as part of your Canada Day activities.

Driving Range

Members arriving 15 minutes before their tee time have priority for using the driving range for the 15 minutes before their tee time.  Please book a time(s) with the golf shop if you are not playing. We need to keep our physical distance when using this area.

We also want to remind you that, when hitting off natural grass, that you follow the guidelines in the picture below in how to manage your divot patterns.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

98th RBC Dominion Securities Central Alberta Amateur

We are excited to confirm that this long-standing event will take place on the August long-weekend.  The member entry fee is now $150 plus tax, a 20% reduction from 2019.  Additionally, the field is reduced to 144 players, so please register early to confirm your spot by emailing our Head Professional Dean Manz at dean@rdgcc.ca.  The detailed tournament announcement will be available shortly.

Club Championships

Please save the date for the 2020 Club Championships.  This championship will take place on the weekend of August 22-23.  Due to health regulations, we are making a variety of plans to ensure we can make this as unique and fun a weekend of golf and camaraderie as possible – more details to follow.

As mentioned previously, we need a current picture of you for our records. The picture will be used by our staff to get to know your name and thus provide more personal service.   You can either email a current photo to Pam at pam@rdgcc.ca or stop by the office, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and we will take a picture of you.

Have a wonderful weekend.
