Congratulations to Red Deer Golf and Country Club member Sharon Peart on winning the Lacombe Ladies Open. Sharon has been battling some health issues and her good golf and tournament win had to be very satisfying on a number of levels. Well done!!
Hats off to Tom Skinner for his hole-in-one on #15 during the Central Alberta Seniors presented by Riverview Insurance Solutions and to Garrett Scott for his Ace at Alberta Springs during the Central Alberta Women’s Shelter tournament.
Red Deer Golf and Country Club members should be aware that we had a half-ton stolen from our parking lot last week. Please remember to lock your vehicle, keep valuables out of sight and to notify the golf shop or Administration Office if you see anyone hanging around our property that look suspicious.
We had some money found on the course last week and turned into me at the Office. If it may have been yours please come and see me in the Office and we can discuss details.
As you are aware we were ranked #82 in the Canadian Golfer Magazine reader rankings. The bi-annual Score Magazine Top 100 is announced the first week in July. It is a ranking and recognition that we deserve. Here’s hoping we crack their list this year.
I’ve heard from a number of members fortunate enough to have played elsewhere this Spring. Alberta has lots of great golf courses and I’d encourage all members to take opportunities to give them a try. It is good for your golf game to get another look…and a fun way to spend a day. One common theme when the members return is how well the Red Deer Golf and Country Club compares. We have a lot of positives. Be proud!
Entries are now being taken for the Red Deer Golf and Country Club Ladies Invitational, the Central Alberta Amateur presented by RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities and the Mason Martin Homes Ladies Member Guest. The committees are hard at work on all three tournaments. If you would like to sponsor, participate or volunteer please contact Dean, Kirk or myself.
The Red Deer Golf and Country Club golf shop has been very well supported. Head Professional Dean Manz has brought in some new clothing lines, and is featuring our logo, the retro logo and some new ideas with 1922. With member pricing everyday it’s an easy purchase and a great way to show off our brand.
Our first Discount Day of the year is July 2. We are treating that day as a normal weekday rather than a holiday so normal membership restrictions apply.
