On June 9, the Alberta government announced that Stage 2 of the COVID-19 relaunch would start today, June 12. We have thoroughly reviewed the guidance given by the government and want you to know how that will impact your experience while at the Club. We struggle with how to apply some of the directions as they don’t seem to make sense, but until we receive further clarification on these matters, this is what we believe meets the intent of the strategy. We know that you might hear other courses are doing things differently than RDGCC. At this point of the relaunch, the golf industry has dissolved from a very united industry in how to approach public safety to one where we are all trying our best to apply guidelines that are so general, for the most part, that industry-wide compliance is impossible. Stage 2 Changes
As you know, we opened the locker rooms, except the showers, and club storage, without club cleaning, this past Monday. Effective today, the showers will open again in the locker rooms and clubs will be cleaned upon completion of play. Please let the admin team know if you want a locker or club storage and we will arrange it for you. The cost for a locker for the balance of the season is $40 and it is $125 for club storage service.
For two people to ride on a cart together you previously had to be living at the same address. This is now changed to people living in a cohort family. When you tell the golf shop staff that you are in a cohort family, we will allow you to share a cart, otherwise, we will not.
Things in the dining room haven’t changed. We don’t have the restriction of 50% capacity, but we are still required to ensure physical distancing so we won’t be changing the layout or service in the dining area until we receive further clarification.

We have a lot of Junior members, of various ages, and encourage you to take the time to get to know them and play with them whenever possible. You will find that they are courteous and eager to play. They are the future of this great game and Club, so please help them feel welcome and wanted at the RDGCC.

The Junior Program will restart in July. A message detailing what will be offered for 2020 will be sent out next week.
Canada Day falls on a Wednesday this year. Due to the demand for tee access and physical distancing requirements, we have decided to forego the usual Canada Day activities and treat the day as we would any holiday with tee times starting at 7 a.m., and with the usual restrictions in place. There will be no group bookings or men’s night on Canada Day this year.
We are pleased to announce that the commercial league will begin again on July 5. It will be slightly modified from previous years, but we are looking forward to restarting this competition. It will be played on Sunday morning from about 9 – 10 a.m.
Save the Date for our Member-Guest Events
We feel that the Men’s and Ladies Member-Guest events are critical to our golf program. As such, we have rescheduled them for September 11th for the Men and the 14th for the Ladies. We are still working on the logistics of these events, and will share what they will look like for the 2020 version in the upcoming weeks. Please contact the Golf Shop staff to reserve your spot.
Please save the date for the 2020 Club Championships. This championship will take place on the weekend of August 22-23. Due to health regulations, we are making a variety of plans to ensure we can make this as unique and fun a weekend of golf and camaraderie as possible – more details to follow.
98th RBC Dominion Securities Central Alberta Amateur
We are excited to confirm that this long-standing event will take place on the August long-weekend. The member entry fee is now $150 plus tax, a 20% reduction from 2019. Additionally, the field is reduced to 144 players, so please register early to confirm your spot by emailing our Head Professional Dean Manz at firstname.lastname@example.org. The detailed tournament announcement will be available shortly.
Hole 8 to Hole 8a
We have learned that some members are getting to hole 8a by walking back up hole 8. This route is very unsafe, and we ask you not to do this anymore. Upon completion of hole 8, walk towards the tee on 9 and then walk to the 8a tee boxes.
Dining Room Hours
Just in case you missed this in yesterday’s email from the F & B team, the dining room opening hours are now changed. The new opening hours are:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m.
Tuesday, Weekends and Holidays 8 a.m.
Snack Shack opening hours remain the same.
Monday – Sunday 8:30 a.m.
You can get coffee in the Golf Shop every day before these other concessions open.
