Our newest shareholder is Bill Dolan. Bill and his wife Charlene joined this year as a non-shareholder and Introductory members. They have been very pleased with the golf course, availability of tee times and convenient location. What made their decision easy though is the people. Bill’s comment was that “the people are what makes a club” and he is more than happy with the way our membership and staff have welcomed them to the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Our membership is the greatest…and Bill and Charlene make the group even better. Thanks to both…we look forward to many years of good times!!
Speaking of our membership thanks to all who have volunteered for the Canadian Women’s Amateur. The tournament is fast approaching and will be another successful event. 156 competitors from all over the world with a volunteer pool of 100. It’s a pretty big deal!! We may still need a few caddies. Speak to Dean Manz if you are able.
Yesterday afternoon we were hit with 2 1/2 inches of rain in a one hour period. The rain closed the golf course, and (because of water entering the electrical room) forced us to shut down the power and close the clubhouse as well. We are back up and running today (welcome to the C.A. Oilmen’s today and tomorrow) with ropes and stakes protecting wet areas. Because of moisture in some of the junction boxes we have to shut off the power and close upstairs on Wednesday July 17 from 8 – 11 am. The room will be cleaned and dried to get rid of condensation and bring it back to top condition.
On Monday July 8 we host the Rave Design Showroom Ladies Member Guest and as I write this we have room for ONE more member and guest. Thanks to Linda Codd and her committee on a good job of organizing…and to some terrific sponsors.
The Red Deer Golf and Country Club is well represented at the Alberta Junior Golf Championship. Best of luck to all participants including Carter Graf (67-66-75) who has a 2 shot lead going into the final round. Cole Bergheim is T-29 (72-76-80) with Logan Graf (70-77-81) and Alex Gerrard T-32 (78-73-79). Let’s hope they all play as expected today at the Highwood Golf and CC and that Carter brings home the Provincial Championship!
Our contractor was at the Club early this morning and removed 65 more geese for a total of 216 taken off the property. See you never!!
Entries are now being taken for the RBC Wealth Management Central Alberta Amateur (August 2,3,4,5) and the Red Deer Ladies Invitational (Saturday August 10). You can call the golf shop or Pam at admin for information or to request an entry form.
