We are pleased to advise that the Murray family have decided to honour Danny in two special ways at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Danny Murray was a Past President of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club and General Manager from 1967 – 1987. A Linden tree has been planted roughly 100 yards from the green on the right side of the first fairway. In addition a bench will be placed on the upper deck of #6 tee. The Board has granted an exception to our policy that all memorials are recognized in Legacy Lane. A plaque will be permitted on the bench recognizing Danny.
Our new turf facility is nearing completion and will be a building we all can be proud of. The Board will schedule an open house sometime before the end of the season that we hope all members will attend.
This Fall we will be doing some paving around the new facility, as well as the area from the approach on #9 green, in front of the driving range, Clubhouse and cart landing, and over to the 10 tee.
We have also priced pavement for our existing pathways on #1 and #18. That part of the package will not be done without member help. If anyone is looking for a worthwhile Legacy Lane contribution, a financial donation towards pathway paving would work nicely.
With the cancellation of the Central Alberta Oilmen’s we will make changes on Saturday July 09 as well. Saturday July 09 Restricted Intermediates and adult Senior members will be able to play and book times after 1:30 pm. In addition 2 guests per foursome will be permitted prior to 1 pm, and the guest fee will be $60.00 + GST all day.
Our next 9 Wine & Dine is Sunday July 17. A new day of the week for one of our most popular events! Pasta will be prepared and served at the front of the house and the guest fee of $45.00 includes a $20.00 F & B credit to be used upstairs. Tee times can be booked 1 week in advance.
We also have a Girl’s Night Out scheduled for Tuesday July 19.
