We are pleased to introduce 3 new shareholders.

Ryan McColl is a general surgeon at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.  Ryan has been a member previously and decided to return and make this the place he and his family play long term.  He and his wife Alyson have three boys (Ethan, Logan and Nixon).  Our practice facilities and quiet evenings are things that will appeal to the McColl family.  I was happy to learn he’s an Oiler’s fan!

Travis Kletke is a partner at Swainson Alexander.  He is married to Jennifer and has two children (Dallon and Ashlyn).  Travis has played a few rounds annually as a guest at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, and knew this was where he wanted to be as a member.  Travis is active with Red Deer Minor Hockey coaching and volunteering and is also a proud (?) Oiler’s fan.

Darren McCook also found our available tee times and pace of play attractive.  He has a few friends that are already members and wanted to join them at Central Alberta’s best golf facility.  Darren is the owner of Arctic Mechanical and…you guessed it…another Oiler’s fan!!  He is married to Christine and has one son, Josh.

Welcome to all.  We appreciate your decision to join us at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club.

Did you know that there is a business directory included in the “Member Only” section of www.rdgcc.ca .  If you would like your name, business, and contact info listed please email Pam at pam@rdgcc.ca .

As a result of the “new rules” of golf introduced this year, some previous penalties have been eliminated.

Eliminations of Penalties

There is now NO penalty for an accidental double hit.

All accidental deflections are treated the same way; NO penalty and the ball is played as it lies.

During a search for a ball, there is NO penalty if a ball is moved by the player or his caddie.  In all cases, the ball will be replaced, it will never be dropped.

There is now NO penalty if a ball in motion accidentally hits the player, caddie, his equipment, or the flagstick whether removed or attended.

There is only a penalty if it is deliberate or if the player or caddie deliberately positions equipment to stop a ball in motion.

There is still NO penalty for a ball or ball-marker accidentally moved on the putting green.

There is now NO penalty for carrying a non-conforming club, penalty applies only for using it.

On the putting green a ball which strikes a moving leaf after a putt, is NO longer cancelled and replayed.  The ball will be played as it lies.

If a ball has been moved by an Outside Influence, it must be replaced in all cases including when the spot is not known.  It will NEVER be dropped.
