The Red Deer Golf and Country Club has been a busy place.  In the last couple of weeks we have had the Sun Life Central Alberta Amateur, the Cadillac Member Guest, and the Central Alberta Ladies.  Thanks to all involved in those successful events.  A great tournament needs an efficient organizing committee, supporting sponsors, hard working staff and participants.  Those 3 events put it all together.

One of the busiest guys at the Club has been Ken Frame.  Sitting on organizing committees, setting prize tables, running horse races, checking handicaps and doing draws, 17th hole shoot outs, running the putting contest with tequila shots, prize presentations, staging power carts, organizing ball spotters and volunteers, checking scorecards and setting on-course competitions.  Add it all up and you get some long days.  Well done Ken!

This is the time of year that Ken offers discounts on existing golf shop merchandise, and can take advantage of manufacturer clear-outs.  Think of Ken Frame Golf Sales first for your golf and corporate needs.

The weather hasn’t been the best, but our golf course certainly has been considering the wet conditions.  Heath Koch, Chris Miller, Rod Clark, Sonja Paradis and the rest of the crew deserve a lot of credit.  Our golf course and its condition gets rave reviews from visitors every day.  We have a lot to be proud of.

This Thursday and Friday we host the PGA of Alberta’s Ladies Stroke Play Championship.  The girls tee off at 11 am Thursday, and 10 am Friday.  There are 11 female professionals from across the Province participating.  We will make their Championship as good as can be, and a memorable couple of days.

This Saturday we have another 9, Wine & Dine.  Guests play for a $45.00 green fee that includes a $20.00 food and beverage credit upstairs.  As usual, it will be a Pasta Night with pasta prepared and served from the front of the house.  You can reserve tee times and dinner reservations upstairs all week.

Congratulations to Chandler McDowell who ended up in 14th place in the Canadian Junior Golf Championships, and was on the Alberta team that won the Inter-Provincial Team Championship.

Red Deer Golf and Country Club member Cameron Duffin was tied for second in the Alberta Junior Juvenile division (under 16) with scores of 79-76-74.  Cam was named to the 2016 Alberta Golf Association Junior Ryder Cup team.  Cameron will compete with the team in Whitefish, Montana August 8 – 10.  Good luck!

Congratulations to Linda Roberts on a fine round of 75 in the Central Alberta Ladies, and to Donna Calombe who made a hole-in-one on #17 during the C.A. Ladies.
