Congratulations to Brenda Pattison and her committee on a very successful Red Deer Golf and Country Club Ladies Invitational. The weatherman cooperated, and the participants had a great day from beginning to end. 88 players and the feedback was universally positive.
We are now taking entries for the 2018 Cadillac Member Guest. The tournament is one of the year’s most popular and takes place Friday September 7. We are pleased to inform that Postma Electrical Services has stepped up as our meal sponsor. Posters should be up later today and you can enter by calling Pam at Admin or in the golf shop. Thanks to Garrett Scott and Jesse Postma for their support of this important event.
Hats off to Terry Loewen and his committee on a very successful Battle of Alberta in support of the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. The tournament shone the spotlight on a very worthwhile cause and raised significant dollars. Thanks to the Red Deer Golf and Country Club membership for making the course available mid-week, and to our managers and their staff for partnering on a successful and memorable day.
Today is our annual Past President’s Day of golf and dinner. Our Past President’s have done (and continue to do) great work for the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Each year I look forward to exchanging ideas, taking advice, and learning what previous decisions may have been based on.
On Friday we host the Alberta Judges. Thanks to Jim Foster for organizing this tournament and for their many years of support at the beautiful Red Deer Golf and Country Club.
It’s hard to believe but we are entering the last 1/3 of our golf season. We will be losing some good friends and great teammates as they head back to school or winter work.
One person I’d like to single out for his efforts this summer is Grant Numrich from the golf shop. Grant leaves for Missouri Valley College next weekend where he plays on the golf team and is finishing his Business Management degree. Good luck Grant!…and thanks for all you do for the RDGCC. We hope things work where you may be back with us in 2019.
On Sunday August 19 the clubhouse will close at 4 pm as we host the Red Deer Minor Hockey Association Gala, in advance of their tournament on Monday. Thanks to Ken Frame and the RDMHA committee for their work. In addition to being a major fundraiser for RDMHA the tournament patronizes the Red Deer Golf and Country Club in a big way. We appreciate the business and opportunity to show our course and clubhouse to another great group of community leaders.
Congratulations to Red Deer Golf and Country Club member Carter Graf who placed 10th in the Canadian Junior, then went out to BC and finished in the top 60 in the Canadian Amateur! Carter consistently posts great scores and does us proud.
Logan Graf and Alex Gerrard competed for the CJGA Team Canada in the Euro Cup in Scotland last week. Both boys did very well against an international field in match play competition. What a wonderful opportunity golf provides for those that choose to play competitively at a young age.
The Red Deer Golf and Country Club Junior Club Championship is scheduled for August 23 and 24. Posters will be up soon.
Chung Mah and his committee have made our regular Club Championship a can’t miss event. Randi Boulton will entertain Saturday after the fun horse race, meals both days, terrific prizes and drink specials! Woo hoo!! Sign up in the golf shop today.
Our final Discounted Guest Fee Day is Monday August 27. Red Deer Golf and Country Club members can bring friends at a discounted rate of $60.00 plus GST.
