What a great job Heath Koch, Brigitt Smith, Rod Clark and the rest of our crew did with the aeration.  They verti-cut, needle tyned and top-dressed the greens Sunday evening, and by the end of the week you won’t tell the greens were touched.
The Clubhouse and driving range will close this Saturday at 2 pm as we host a wedding on 8a.  The range will open later in the evening once guests have returned to the Clubhouse.  There will be a limited menu available in the men’s lounge and the BBQ available out front with extended hours.
I am EXTREMELY pleased to report that we think we have solved the smell in the Ladies locker room.  A grease trap in the kitchen will be replaced as soon as we can coordinate and with it the odor should be gone.  Monday August 17 the draft beer lines are being replaced (no draft that day) and then things should FINALLY be back to normal in the Ladies locker room.
Next Tuesday is the August edition of our Girl’s Night Out.  Adult members and wives and girlfriends or RDGCC members can bring guests for a special 9 hole rate of $25.00.  FYI the final Girl’s Night Out this year will be Saturday September 05 from 4 -6 pm.
Our August 9, Wine & Dine is Saturday August 22.  Golfers can invite guests for a special fee of $45.00 which includes a $20.00 food credit upstairs.  You can call for tee times one week in advance for 9, Wine and Dines.
Our Summer Social Series presented by Procom Insurance was a big success.  Great entertainment each session, and good response from those in attendance.  Randi Boulton will entertain Friday August 28 in an evening that sold out early last week.
The GS Communities Mixed Tournament will be a 1 pm shotgun start on Saturday August 29.  Glenn and Michelle Fraser got involved and have brought great things to this event.  You can enter in the golf shop, and we expect a full field of 120 participants.
Earlier this week our Head Golf Professional Ken Frame was playing at the Calgary Golf and Country Club.  The Country Club has 150 yard markers in the middle of each fairway that are printed like barber poles and stand 2 or 3 feet tall.  Ken drove his ball right down the middle and had 170 yards or so left to the pin.
He hit his shot reasonably solid, but not that high.  It hit the 150 yard marker and bounced straight back over his head and behind where he had played his shot from!  A one of a kind shot by our one of a kind Golf Pro!
… the way he knocked the next shot on the green and 2 putted for a bogey.
