Thanks for your patience as we deal with some tough conditions and have temporary greens in play. We put #1, 4, 13 and 17 in play ahead of and 8 and 10 but we need some decent weather and prep work prior to opening any of them.
We do expect to start verti-cutting and top dressing very soon – but can’t get going on that until we have had some solid consistent growth. We don’t want to set them back by beating them up with brushing or traffic.
For your information the large aeration holes are not from our usual fall aeration but left over from when our crew went out and used the aerators to remove the ice in late November/early December. Had we not done that virtually all the poa (most of our greens) would not have survived the winter. In spite of what you may have heard the aeration holes were a benefit in getting the water below the surface. Our greens will be fine with multiple cup locations and smooth surfaces in the near future.
Our Superintendent and his crew are doing what they can in a timely manner and we appreciate their hard work on our behalf.
On another note virtually 1/2 of the green on #16a has been removed (in one foot squares) to aid in the re-sod work. We will rebuild that green in due course.
