The golf season started a little bit later this year, and things are happening in a hurry.  Here are some upcoming events you should be aware of:

Friday May 05 – Titleist Demo Day
Saturday May 06 – PXG Demo Day
Monday May 08 – Ladies Spring Banquet and Fashion Show.  Ladies are required to pre-register and choose their choice of dinner entree.  Call Pam at 403-347-5441 to register.
Friday May 12 – Pasta Night – Our favourite theme night.  Pasta is prepared and served from the front of the house.
Saturday May 13 – Ing & McKee Junior Tournament
Sunday May 14 – Mother’s Day Brunch – Reservations required and space is limited.
Sunday May 14 – Mother’s Day Dinner – Reservations as usual.
Monday May 15 – Discounted Green Fee Day – Guests play for a green fee of $60.00 + GST.
Friday May 19 – Titleist Demo Day
Saturday May 20 – 9, Wine and Dine – Guests play 9 holes for a fee of $45.00 which includes a $20.00 credit upstairs following play.  We feature a Pasta Night on 9, Wine and Dines.  Reservations highly recommended.
Tuesday May 23 – Girl’s Night Out – Lady members and wives/girlfriends of RDGCC members can invite their friends and play 9 holes for a $25.00 guest fee.  A fun outing for sure.
Sunday May 28 – Golf course closes at 2 pm for maintenance.  Junior and Senior restrictions relaxed to 12:30 pm.
Monday May 29 – Course closed in the morning and re-opens at 1 pm.

The Spring edition of Score magazine features an interesting article on Rocky, Paige and Hannah Downton and their experience at the World Invitational Father Daughter tournament in Ireland.  In addition to world class travel and golf the Downton’s have placed quite well in the tournament each year.  Nice recognition for the Downton’s and thanks to Rocky and the girls for representing the Red Deer Golf and Country Club on an international stage!

Ken Frame is now taking names for people interested in volunteering at the Sun Life Alberta Ladies Championship July 11 – 14.  This tournament is Alberta Golf’s premiere golf event, and one that our facility fits perfectly.  We will show the participants a memorable week on one of Western Canada’s best golf clubs.

The Red Deer Golf and Country Club welcomes Celebrity Chef Marc Cummings on Friday June 02, Saturday June 03, and brunch on Sunday June 04.  Marc was one of the original chef’s featured on the Food Network.  He has years of experience at some high end European restaurants and schools, and worked cruise lines and at various international events.  Our Executive Chef Ryan Poole and Marc have planned menus that feature live cooking stations and interactive items.  The menus for both events are listed below…and we expect all three days to be well attended.  Call the office at 403-347-5441 to reserve.

Reservations are mandatory.  The menu is as follows and is $55.00 per person:

Passed Appetizer:  Garlic Crostini on Baby Arugula with Heirloom Tomato and Grilled Tiger Shrimp and Sliced Beef Tenderloin.

Live Station Buffet:
Caesar Salad (dressing made from scratch to order)
Chicken Coq Au Vin
Salmon En Papillote
Whipped Baby Turnip with Bacon and Green Onions
Roasted Butternut Squash Succotash

Live Station Dessert:
Not Your Grandma’s Strawberry Shortcake topped with a Grand Marnier Cream.

Celebrity Chef Brunch on Sunday June 04.  Reservations are mandatory.  Adults:  $30.00, Children 4 – 12:  $15.00, Under 4 are free.  The menu is as follows:

Live Station Buffet:
Linguini Carbonara – made from scratch to order

Dessert:  Peach Cobbler

The Red Deer Golf and Country Club is in terrific condition, and is a place we all should be very proud of.  Invite your friends and visit us often!!
