Yesterday morning a member had their vehicle stolen from the 5 minute parking zone immediately in front of the Clubhouse. He had stopped to get something from his locker (no more than 2 minutes) and came out in time to see his truck driving away.
With the River Erosion Project taking place and access to Bower Ponds affected there has been a number of “non-golf” individuals in our parking lot. All staff have been instructed to keep an eye open for unusual activity, and to interact with all RDGCC parking lot guests and visitors.
We are sorry to have to report incidents like this. This certainly opens our eyes how quickly a theft can happen. Please don’t leave vehicles running or keys inside.
Our next 9 Wine & Dine is this Saturday June 25. Please call the golf shop to book a tee time and don’t forget to reserve upstairs.
On Monday June 27 guest green fees will be $60.00 + GST all day. Please invite some friends and show us off! We will announce July reduced green fee days in another message Friday June 24.
July 01 is Canada Day, and the Red Deer Golf and Country Club is the place to be. We will have a member’s shotgun at 8:30 in the morning with all restrictions waived. Then at 2 pm another shotgun start with all holes playing as Par 3’s. For the afternoon shotgun guest green fees will be $25.00. Following play that evening we will have a pig roast, burgers, hot dogs and ice cream on the cart landing. The Brad Abel Trio will entertain from 6 – 9 pm. We will also have Canada Day specials and regular dinner service in the Clubhouse.
The fireworks are planned as usual at Bower Ponds. RDGCC members are encouraged to watch them from our Clubhouse or at the cart landing. As usual the City will provide us parking passes to access the Club all day July 01. When we receive them from the City we will advise and make them available.
Please note the following date changes:
Club Championship September 03, 04, 05
Senior Club Championship September 08, 09
Ice Maker Oct 05, 06, 07
A reminder that the range will be closed Tuesday mornings from 10 – 11 am for maintenance.
This is a sad week for the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. An honourary member, Past President and General Manager from 1967 – 1987, Mr. Danny Murray passed away. Our connection goes way back…my father was President of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club the year Danny was hired. As a Junior member and now General Manager I can confidently say that no one had a more positive impact on the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Danny was firm but fair. He was a sounding board and supporter throughout my career. He will be missed and may he rest in peace.
