Some guys go above and beyond. This morning one of our pull carts got away on a member and ended up in the pond on 9. His foursome was able to retrieve everything EXCEPT a rangefinder and cell phone. The member approached Dean about hiring a back shopper to enter the water and try and find them. The problem with that was that we had 3 females on shift. So….next thing you know Dean is in 9 pond up to his chest and the member got his gear back!
Carter Graf is hanging tough at the Alberta Amateur and is alone in 4th place at -7 thru 45 holes. The Red Deer Golf and Country Club is well represented at the Amateur. Grant Numrich is currently -2 and tied for 16th, Cole Morrison +2 through 54 holes and Cash Reumkens shot 76 and 75 to make the cut against Alberta’s best. Rob McWilliam missed the cut by one shot. An excellent showing by all RDGCC participants.
Members will be pleased to see “the bell” back in use on #4. Back in the day golfers would putt out and ring the bell to signify it was safe to hit approach shots to the green. This time things aren’t as simple as we use it for both long drives and second shots. Note where the bell is and use common sense, and good timing to avoid hitting into the group ahead.
We still have space available in the Red Deer Golf and Country Club Ladies Invitational, the Mason Martin Homes Ladies Member Guest and the RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities Central Alberta Amateur.
Next Wednesday July 25 a portion of the Clubhouse will be closed from 1 – 5 pm as we host a private function.
Members are reminded that we have split and cut firewood available at a cost of $100.00 per pick-up load. There is also a lot of larger pieces along the North side of our turf facility entrance road (not split) that you can have for free.
Red Deer Golf and Country Cub members can book times and bring guests at reduced fees to a number of Alberta’s best golf courses. If you are looking to play in Calgary or Edmonton please have Dean or Kirk help make it happen.
