The Red Deer and Country Club has certainly received enough moisture lately.  A reminder that if the day does clear and you want to play to call the golf shop and make sure that the course is open, and to check on whether or not power carts are allowed.
Congratulations to the winners of the Glover International Junior Club Championship.  The Championship flight chose to play the black tees and the winner was 15 years old Chandler McDowell who shot 75-73 and edged Logan Hill by two shots.
The first flight winner was Cameron Kungle (12 years old) 89-81 and runner-up Devon Carroll.
Second flight champ was Cole Bergheim (11 years old) 87-81 and runner-up Jordan Siwak.
Good luck to all the participants in the Ladies Club Solheim Cup this weekend.  The popular event follows a match play format with play Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday afternoon/evening the Clubhouse will close at 3 pm as we set up and host the Red Deer Minor Hockey Tournament Social upstairs.
The participants in the Solheim Cup will meet following their round in the Men’s Lounge so there may be a period of time Sunday afternoon when there is no food service available, other than regular Snack Shack fare.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
Monday is the Red Deer Minor Hockey Association tournament with a 9 am shotgun start.
Don’t forget to sign up soon for the GS Communities Mixed Tournament slated for Saturday August 29 with a 1 pm shotgun start.  The field is limited to the first 25 teams signed up.  Entry fee is $60.00 per person for RDGCC members and $90.00 per person for non-members.
We have had a lot of requests for tee times, and visits from members of other Alberta private golf facilities.  The great weather and course conditions are a perfect combination to showcase our course.  Let’s all do our part to keep this place as good as can be.  Replace large divots and use sand and seed on the others, rake traps, repair ball marks and take pride in this beautiful property.  The comments from those who visit are always positive.  Red Deer Golf and Country Club members have alot to be proud of!
We hope to see you often as we pass through the final quarter of our golf season.
